STAR WARS RISE OF THE SKY WALKER - "SECRET" TV SPOT

Star Wars Editor: The Last Jedi Presented “A Lot of Challenges” for The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker editor Maryann Brandon admits the Rian Johnson-directed The Last Jedi presented “a lot of challenges in terms of where Episode IX had to go to finish the saga.” Skywalker had to send off Resistance leader Leia without star Carrie Fisher — who died one year before Last Jedi released in December 2017 — and the conclusion to the nine-episode Skywalker Saga had to wrap up without a flesh-and-blood Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who perished on the sacred island of Ahch-To after confronting twisted nephew Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) through an exhaustive Force link. Brandon “really enjoyed” Last Jedi, but the middle chapter of the sequel trilogy posed multiple problems:

“In other words, unfortunately Carrie died, but she didn’t obviously die in Episode VIII. She’s a character that had to be figured out, and that was a huge challenge,” Brandon told Awards Daily. “But I think J.J. [Abrams, director] and [screenwriter] Chris Terrio did an amazing job. Luke died, which was a problem. So we had those two opposing problems, so I think what you’re seeing trend is that the setup was difficult to deal with.”
Johnson is “an amazing filmmaker,” Brandon added. However, “I just think that when you’re doing a trilogy, you can’t just abandon a story. So whatever he chose to put in that film, those things that are dangling have to be dealt with. And you have to deal with them honestly, so you thought the whole thing through.”
Abrams also joined Rise of Skywalker late, replacing Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow after he was dismissed by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
“J.J. wasn’t supposed to do Episode IX, so that was a whole other thing,” Brandon said, “because he came on late and he and Chris had to write the script in a shorter amount of time.”
For Abrams, who was unable to return for The Last Jedi because of the quick turnaround between episodes VII and VIII, the filmmaker says he’s “grateful” to Johnson:
“When he came on to work on the next film, and we were just starting to shoot [The Force Awakens], I was really excited to see where he would go and what he would do,” Abrams told Yahoo. “And it’s funny because one of the things that I was [thinking] at first [was], ‘Oh, I really want to see all the friends together.’ And in his story, they really weren’t. [Rey] doesn’t really meet Poe until the end. Rey and Finn are not really together in the movie.”
1commentsHe continued, “So, in a way, the story that he told, in a lot of ways helped set up what we were doing in IX. But it also allowed Episode IX to have the group together and out on an adventure in a way that was weirdly, even though it’s the third film, it’s the first time they all get to be together.”

"CONTROL" IS NOW FREE FOR XBOX ONE

Remedy's brutalist slice of supernatural bureaucracy, Control, is already pretty damn spectacular, but now there's even more to enjoy, thanks to the game's free Expeditions update, which arrives today on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
Expeditions, according to Remedy, are "challenging combat experiences with a set time limit", and are designed as end-game content for those that have completed Control's main story.
"Expeditions take place in a Threshold area somehow connected to the Black Rock Quarry, where the Bureau has found a mysterious structure called the Formation," explains the developer, "Marshall frequently sent her Rangers to explore and investigate this mysterious, largely uncharted dimension." Expect to encounter pieces of the Oldest House and more of the Hiss as you step into this strange new dimension.

Expeditions take the form of scored challenges, in which players are given 25 minutes to clear four different areas. Three difficulty tiers are available, with a new tier unlocking when the previous one has been completed. Each tier introduces a new range of possible modifiers - such as increased weapon damage or more resistant Hiss - and players can earn new mods, rare crafting materials, and even a new outfit for Jesse by playing.
As for how you'll get an Expedition underway, it all ties into the mysterious jukebox located just off the Bureau of Control's Central Executive lobby. To activate it, however, you'll first need to secure a Jukebox Token in the area and talk to Arish to begin a side-mission.
Once complete, you'll require a Jukebox Token whenever you want to initiate a new Expedition. You'll keep your current token provided you don't die during a challenge, but new ones can be acquired by completing Expeditions, Bureau Alerts, and Board Countermeasures, by defeating named enemies, or by crafting them at Control Points. There's a taste of all the resulting mayhem in the launch trailer above.
In addition to today's free Expeditions update, Control will receive two paid story expansions next year. The first, known as The Foundation, arrives on 26th March, and the second, called AWE and seemingly connected to Remedy's much-loved Alan Wake - is due mid-2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Both will be set in new locations within the Oldest House, and feature new missions and game mechanics.

Kristen Stewart's New Movie Is Going To Break The Records

 UNDERWATER

Kristen Stewart Finds Something Scary Under the Sea Posted on Monday, August 19th, 2019 by Chris Evangelista underwater trailer Kristen Stewart and her cool haircut get into some serious deep-sea trouble in Underwater, a new thriller that looks like an aquatic Alien.

Stewart plays a member of a team of underwater researchers who have to deal with something monstrous and deadly. Is it an alien? A giant squid? Cthulu? Who knows! Watch the Underwater trailer below. Underwater Trailer Kristen Stewart has thrived in indie films for the last few years, and now she seems to be entertaining a new phase of her career. This phase plants her firmly within what I like to call “big studio junk.” She’ll appear in Charlie’s Angels later this year, and next year we’ll get to see her in this film – Underwater. Based on this trailer, Underwater looks like someone put Alien, The Abyss, and the ’80s Alien knock-off Leviathan in a blender. I’m not complaining. I’m all for big studio junk, as long as it’s entertaining. And watching Kristen Stewart face off against undersea monsters sounds pretty damn entertaining to me. Here’s the Underwater synopsis: UNDERWATER is a film that follows a crew of underwater researchers who must scramble to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory Kind of weird that they don’t mention the whole monster thing in that synopsis. Was that supposed to be a secret? In addition to Stewart, Underwater features T.J. Miller (ugh), Jessica Henwick, Mamoudou Athie, Vincent Cassel, John Gallagher Jr., and Gunner Wright. William Eubank, the filmmaker behind the 2014 sci-fi thriller The Signal, directs. Underwater wrapped shooting in 2017, so the fact that it’s taken this long to arrive is not a great sign. Nor is the fact that the film is opening in January, which is usually a dumping ground for studios. This is technically a 20th Century Fox flick, but that means it’s also a Disney flick now as well. And as we all know, Disney has grown a bit skittish about their Fox holdover titles. Still, I’ll admit I’m interested in seeing this. In this day and age where every studio picture seems to be a reboot, sequel or superhero film, I’ll take any sort of departure I can get – even if it’s a bit derivative.

Predator: Hunting Grounds

 HUNT OR BE HUNTED

Predator: Hunting Grounds

Predator: Hunting Grounds is an asymmetrical multiplayer shooter that pits a sole Predator against an "elite fireteam" composed of mere humans (with guns). First announced as a PS4 exclusive, the shooter is newly confirmed for PC and is expected to release on April 20.
The four human players experience the game as a first-person shooter, while the fifth, the Predator, plays from a third-person perspective in a fashion reminiscent of Evolve. In a video released today, studio IllFonic (Friday the 13th: The Game) details some of the customisation options for the Predator, while also demonstrating that this game pulls absolutely no punches when it comes to gore.
Predator weaponry ranges the expected crossbow, through to a "Smart Disc" which works like some deadly frisbee. There are also wrist blades and a plasma caster (it casts plasma), and a retractable spear called the Combistick. Meanwhile there are three classes of Predator: Hunter, Scout and Berserker.

Xbox Series X, Microsoft's brand new game console, has a bold new design

Xbox Series X, Microsoft's brand new game console, has a bold new design

In an interview with GameSpot, Microsoft discusses its plans for the next-generation video game console, coming 2020.

Earlier this year, Microsoft discussed its next-generation video game console, Project Scarlett. Now, it has a launch name: Xbox Series X.

Microsoft said the new name reflects the many ways you can play an Xbox. The new Xbox Series X will support the "thousands" of titles that already play on the Xbox One, for example. The device will also support previously sold accessories, such as the Xbox Adaptive Controller for disabled gamers.
"We wanted to design a console where the form was driven by the function," Phil Spencer, Microsoft's head of Xbox, said in an interview with GameSpot. The company made its public announcement during the Game Awards in Los Angeles Thursday.
Microsoft said the new Xbox will go on sale ahead of the holiday shopping season next year, though it didn't say how much it would cost.
The new Xbox name, and a planned redesign, come at a time when gaming is more a part of popular culture than it's ever been. Titles like Epic's Fortnite have become so popular that celebrities re-create the dances, known as "emotes," in the Hunger Games-style, fight-to-the-death game perform. Streaming giant Netflix has identified video games as its biggest competitor for people's time and attention.
Meanwhile, gaming on mobile devices like phones and tablets is taking off. In September, Apple launched Apple Arcade, its first game subscription service, offering customers access to a list of more than 100 curated puzzle, action and family-friendly games for $4.99 per month. Microsoft has also been expanding into subscriptions, offering a $9.99 per month Xbox Games Pass with more than 100 games. The titles include Minecraft, Gears of War and Halo.
Amid all this, Microsoft and Sony are preparing to release new video game consoles in time for next year's holiday shopping season. Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Sony's PlayStation 5 have a lot in common, sharing similar graphics chips, fast storage technologies, and developers like Electronic Arts, Ubisoft and Take-Two Interactive, all making games such as the adventure games Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Watch Dogs: Legion and Red Dead Redemption 2 for their consoles.
To make their consoles more appealing in this increasingly internet-connected age, both Microsoft and Sony are offering cloud gaming services that allow people to play games over the internet similar to streaming Netflix movies and shows today. Even there, the two face increased competition from newcomers, such as Google and Amazon, which have cloud expertise they can extend to video games.
Despite all that's at stake, Microsoft chose a relatively simple design for its next Xbox. It could be easily mistaken for a smart speaker or a vase. The console bears an Xbox logo, a slot for discs and little else. The design is intended to make the console "disappear" into your entertainment center, Spencer said.
Microsoft said it'll discuss more about the console at the E3 2020 video game conference next June
